"THE FLYING HANDKERCHIEF"

“The Flying Handkerchief” offers an interface between art and architecture to contribute to the urban revitalization of a neighborhood located in Lake Worth Beach, FL

The proposed mixed-use project combines workforce housing, amenities, and street-level commercial spaces.

Art is embraced as a focal point through corner covered plazas to welcome the access to potential coffeehouses and galleries.

Floating over this commercial area, the housing component is revealed like a “flying handkerchief”, with triangular balconies that cantilever over the front gardens.

The contribution of this project to the Lake Worth community goes beyond the generation of a place to live, work and play. “The Flying Handkerchief” is a symbol of free artistic expression, tolerance and diversity, which are inherent values of this community.
