PIAZZALE OSTIENSE

Piazzale Ostiense is a vibrant intermodal transportation area by the Aurelian Walls in Rome. This urban intervention proposes to reconnect the pedestrian infrastructure in order to transform it's merely circulatory daily life commuting experience into an episodic interaction with sources of intellectual and cultural development. The design outcome has three components: a panoramic promenade on top of the Aurelian Walls and Porta San Paolo with exhibition spaces, an underground artisans market and a mixed-use intermodal bus-taxi-train station building that incorporates a neighborhood central library and a panoramic roof terrace.
